1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2 He was with God in the beginning. 3 Through him all things were made; without him nothing was made that has been made. 4 In him was life, and that life was the light of all mankind. 5 The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it. 6 There was a man sent from God whose name was John. 7 He came as a witness to testify concerning that light, so that through him all might believe. 8 He himself was not the light; he came only as a witness to the light. 9 The true light that gives light to everyone was coming into the world. 10 He was in the world, and though the world was made through him, the world did not recognize him. 11 He came to that which was his own, but his own did not receive him. 12 Yet to all who did receive him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God 13 children born not of natural descent, nor of human decision or a husband’s will, but born of God. 14 The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the one and only Son, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth.
Jesus Christ has many names noted in the bible. Some refer to a title and others refer to one of his attributes. A few examples are: Son of God, Lamb of God, King of Kings, Lord of Lords, Prince of peace. And in the verses noted above he is referred to as “The Word”.
A majority of Christians today believe that Jesus, being called the “Word”, refers to Him as the author of the bible. This is because He communicated His words to men who in turn wrote the words of the bible. Another interesting verse relating to the “word” is noted below:
Hebrews 4:12 (NIV 1984)
12 For the word of God is alive and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart.
Here we see that the “word” or the bible is alive and active. It is not just words written by people as if they were writing a novel. The people who wrote the bible were writing words dictated to them by Jesus Christ through the Holy Spirit. God’s words are powerful and can create life as He did in the beginning of the world. (Genesis Chapter 1) So it is understandable why the bible says the “word” is alive. The fact that Jesus dictated the bible to men should make all of us want to know all we can about the bible.
Some may say the bible is just another book. However, if we think about the fact that the bible was written by many different people, who lived in different countries, who spoke different languages and lived at different times. And yet the bible reads like a book written by a group of people who lived at the same time, knew each other and discussed the writing of the bible as they each wrote their part. However, that was not how the bible was written. Again, it was written by many different people, who lived in different countries, who spoke different languages and lived at different times. The end result was a book that fits together as if one person wrote it. And that one person was Jesus Chris the “Word”. To say that the bible was a miraculous book is putting it mildly. Also consider that no other religious book in the world was composed in the same way. All other religious books were for the most part written by one person. It is therefore easy to understand why the bible is unique and still the most popular book ever written in the history of the world.
So if we believe that Jesus Christ is the “Word” and the words of the bible are His words, then we should pay very close attention to what He is telling us in the bible. Therefore this web site was established to primarily focus on bible studies which in turn will bless our lives in many ways. Jesus states in the bible that we would be blessed if we delight in His law.
Psalm 1:1-3 (NIV)
1 Blessed is the one
who does not walk in step with the wicked
or stand in the way that sinners take
or sit in the company of mockers,
2 but whose delight is in the law of the LORD,
and who meditates on his law day and night.
3 That person is like a tree planted by streams of water,
which yields its fruit in season
and whose leaf does not wither—
whatever they do prospers.
The name of this web site is “e-Christ.org”. I believe God gave me this web site name supernaturally. I believe He wants this “electronic” or “e-web site” to be all about Him and His word not about a man who puts the words on the internet site. Therefore, as the author of these biblical studies I will remain anonymous and be known as John Doe. I hope and pray that everyone who reads the information on this site will judge it by its biblical content and interpretation. If I feel that I am significantly drifting away from the simple interpretation of the “word”, then I will note that it is just my opinion. At that point you can choose to believe or disbelieve what you read. But please verify everything I write with the “word”. And let God’s word sink deep into your heart.
It is my sincere prayer that God will use this web site to draw a multitude of people into His kingdom and in the process give them a thorough knowledge of His “word” the bible.
